- Using TiVo Desktop, suck the program off the TiVo and onto your computer.
- Open VideoRedo, then choose the .tivo file you wish to convert.
- Run it through VideoReDo, clipping the commercials out. Save the completed file to your hard drive. It will now be an .mpg file.
- Open Nero Recode. (Or from Smart Start, choose "Photo and Video", then "Convert DVD-Videos to Nero Digital TM".
- Click "Import Files" and choose the .mpg file you saved from VideoReDo. The settings should be:
- Nero Digital Category: Apple iPod
- Nero Digital Profile: iPod Video
- Fit to target (checked or not, depending on how high quality you want)
- For target, I use "DVD-5 4.7GB"
- When you have it all set up, click "Next".
- For "Burn Settings", choose Destination of "Hard Disk Folder". Then pick a folder where you'd like to keep it. I use a folder called "iPod".
- Click "Burn" and you're off and running.
That's all there is to it. I save my files so that an hour show comes in around 600-800mb. I've tried some other crappy free software for converting, but by the time the show was over the audio was so far off the video it was like watching Godzilla movies when I was a kid.
